The mercato on Saturday just a few blocks north of the flat on de Gaperi is awesome! You can get food, clothing and lots more. So, if you need something, hold out until Saturday if you can. My light jacket wasn't light enough so I picked up one for just 20 euros. You can buy a more expensive one, and you will definitely pay more in the shops. The produce is plentiful and beautiful! I'm glad because what I found in the super market across the street was less than appetizing.

There is also a huge mercato at Porta Palatina.

There are 2 department stores off via Roma near the center if you need something and can't get it at the mercato. One is expensive - Rinacente. The other is not - Upim. I got our santoku at Rinacente and cutting board at Upim. Hopefully I will be able to leave these items for you to use as well.

Don't forget the sports-health food store close to the center. I still haven't been in it, but if you need protein powder, it's in the window.
