Invitation
The Physician Assistant Education Association and the American Academy of Physician Assistants invite you to join us as we explore the role of the clinical doctorate in the PA profession. As part of the exploration process, we are hosting a summit in which approximately 50 individuals representing a variety of perspectives within and outside of the PA community are being invited to participate. Participants will take part in an interactive discussion and evaluation of the potential impacts of a clinical doctorate on accreditation, education, certification, employment, credentialing, health care delivery systems, and PA practice. The goal of the summit is to develop recommendations to the profession on whether the clinical doctorate is appropriate as an entry-level degree, as a postgraduate degree, or not at all.
The summit will be held March 25-27, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. Travel to Atlanta will be funded as well as a two-night stay at a local hotel. Participants will be reimbursed for auto miles, parking fees, and per diem for meals not provided at the summit. More information about booking flights and hotel accommodations will be sent within two weeks.
Full participation by all summit participants is essential to its success. We ask that participants be available to attend all sessions and events associated with the meeting. Use of cell phones and laptops during the meeting is discouraged. Participants are also expected to complete pre-event assignments which may include essential readings, preparatory exercises, and an on-line survey. Please take these important time considerations into account when determining your availability to participate.
For more information about the process and the summit please visit the Clinical Doctorate Pre-event Web site located at http://www.innovationlabs.com/clinical_doctorate_summit/. This site will contain pre-event assignments for participants, research articles reviewed by the sponsor group, a copy of the invitation, and logistical information.
We hope that you are able to join us March 25-27. Please let us know of your availability by RSVP by January 30, 2009 to Ayeshia Ellington Pompey at (703) 548-5538, ext, 312 or via e-mail at aellington@paeaonline.org.
