The first activity is to see what your answers are to how education should be taught. Some answers will be better than others. You have seen some of these videos which show us the technology that is being used to enhance education. Right now it’s expensive but soon it will be in most homes for a reasonable price. Hopefully you’ll be thinking outside of what you already know because the world is changing at such a rapid pace.
Assignment
Round 1: Succeeding in the 21st Century
Context
Welcome!
We’re going to begin this afternoon’s workshop by working in small groups about 6 people. The purpose of this activity is to identify what you feel are the most important knowledge and skills young people need in order to be successful in the 21st Century.
Objective
The objective of this round is for your team to produce a poster that identifies the knowledge and skills that young people need to be successful in the 21st Century.
Discuss the video you saw earlier, as well as the concept cards provided to your group, and discuss the following questions as you develop your poster:
Process
Please gather together in a group of about 6 people in a breakout area.
If you want, you can use the rolling white wall and markers in your breakout area to brainstorm ideas before writing them on your poster.
You have 20 minutes to complete this task.
Exchange
After 20 minutes your group will join together with a couple of other groups and share what you have come up with.

We’re going to move into another activity. Your group will be determined by the number on your name tag. You’ll find a kit in your area with materials to build a model. Imagine yourself in your 20s and you’ll create the world that you want to have.
